Past or future?
How come an individual or a society decides, what is past? and which past will not become our future? or which has qualities to become our future?
The answer is not too easy rather it attracts a more complex and cumbersome approach to take into consideration before answering the question. Today, we see a lot of new technologies evolving per second. We enjoy the advancement and becoming solely getting ourselves to depend on it, rather than worrying about the impacts of these advancements on the environment or more aptly on us. Humans evolved approx 315000 years ago in Africa from Hominini, which many anthropologists believed, We consider Maya, Sumerians, Egyptians, Babylonians, Indus Valley Civilizations, and Sanatan Dharma as one of the oldest types of civilizations that exist in human evolution. They use very scientific methods to build their structures and complex equipment. Historians, archeologists, or scientists are not able to tell from where these highly complex and highly advanced technologies came. How they are able to build those gigantic monuments and how they calculate those astrological mathematics. But one thing is very much clear those civilizations become victims of their own science and technology. It is very hard to say how those advanced civilizations were wiped out, some historians and archaeologists suggest that it was the result of their own conflict for territories and food. Some researchers suggest that they are wiped out from their own weapons that were created to rule. Some said they got those advancements from extra-terrestrials and when those extra-terrestrials went they wiped those civilizations also.
People of the Maya civilization used very highly advanced mathematical and physical analysis and their astrological knowledge was unmatchable. They created their own calendar based on the stars and formed their calendar. Archeologists found the calendar up to 2012 but it is believed that archeologists are not able to find the whole calendar. Similarly, the Egyptians made Pyramids, and Babylonians and Sumerians discovered paper and have their own scientific advancements. India has many unique structures too. The Indian great epics such as Mahabharata or Ramayana or other Granths explain a lot about advancements and science. Indian Rishies are known for their science, many things are discussed that is from atomic physics to astrophysics, from medical science to chemical science.
Indus valley civilization is considered one of the oldest civilizations and most advanced civilizations of their own time which was contemporary to Sumerians and Babylonians. The people of IVC are very much familiar with modern civil engineering, they have a working knowledge of physics, chemistry, and hydrophyics. But the question is where do they go? Archeologists and researchers found many vitrified pottery and bricks and consider Mohenjo Daro as an epicenter of the nuclear blast. But the question arises of how the Indus people know how to build nuclear technology. It is believed that around 35,000 people were living at that time but till now only 45 skeletons are found. Again the question arises of where the rest is gone.
Technology and human are closely related to each other. Humans use technology to make their work easier but history suggests that all the civilizations disappeared because of their advancement. They are more ahead of their time or they were unable to handle those technologies. Epidemics, technology, and remoteness all are interlinked with each other. Diseases are the product of mishandling nature whereas the unable to cure or prevent those diseases is the lack of technology? These are the questions that need to address. Sometimes or many times humans are unable to handle technology knowingly or unknowingly. Epidemics such as plague and others are happing since ancient times which were responsible to wipe out a huge population. 1984 was a year that shows how technology and advancements can cause a vital threat to humanity. 26 April 1984, the Chernobyl disaster, and 2 December 1984, Bhopal Disaster, are examples of how technology is able to destroy humanity. Recently SARS-CoV-2 happened which is responsible for the death of atleast 65million people around the world.
The history and present suggest to us how technology helped humankind as well as responsible for disaster. It is very difficult to predict the future but history gave us answers to all our questions. History tells us how to handle the present and how to prepare ourselves for the future. Homosepiens are the most intelligent animal on earth but sometimes they fall prey to themselves. The technology which we are using and the advancement made by entire human kind is very exciting as well as very scary. Today we possess Nuclear weapons and they are capable to destroy the whole planet. We are existing a natural resource and try to impose thoughts on others. We are trying to occupy the land and try to expand the territories which creates tussles between various communities. The threat is not only nuclear power but also how we are treating our own planet, global warming, weather distortion, and other effects can be seen as the negative effect of advancement and technology. We need to re-evaluate the current scenario and try to solve our problems to look into history.
The past of humankind is full of turbulence and mystery. Human from ages tries to figure out from where we come. We can see the evolution of intelligent humans through the study of cave paintings be it Bhimbetka cave painting or Magura Cave painting or Sulawesi warty pig panting. It is very fascinating how humans advance in their life and built such marvelous gigantic structures like the great pyramid of Giza. We must evaluate our past to learn and advance in life. But the question remains, How come an individual or a society decides, what is past? and which past will not become our future? and which have qualities to become our future?
